their War Too
The name that struck terror in the state 30 years ago is a different place now. The Nuxalbari Tea Estate management donated Rs 50,000 to a Kargil fund in Calcutta. Now the 950 workers want to donate a day's wages and even defer a proposed strike. Says trade unionist Charles Uraon: "Labour disputes can wait. Kargil can't. The soldiers are fighting a bigger battle than we are." |
