Oh Jackie!

Rina DhakaJacqueline LundquistIs Uncle Sam smiling on Rina Dhaka? Nope, but Jacqueline Lundquist is. The American ambassador's glamorous wife is not only hosting the designer's fall-winter show this week, she's the emcee, and while she's at it, she'll even wear a Dhaka design. Why the generosity? It's charity that's drawn Jackie. The proceeds from the ticketed show will go to the Concern India Foundation. "I'm glad I'm working with Jacqueline," says Dhaka. "She's a concerned person, and in her own way she promotes fashion." For one thing, she wears it well.

Natural Choice

Pooja BhattYou don't often get to play your own grandmom. Pooja Bhatt's one of the lucky few. In the film Zakhm, dad Mahesh Bhatt's semi-autobiographical swan song, Pooja's playing the character fashioned after Shiraz Mohammed Ali, the woman who mothered her father. "She was extremely tenacious," says Pooja, "and yet as a woman of the '90s, there are many things about her which I couldn't come to terms with, like staying at home with the children while my grandfather married someone else." Catch Pooja doing that.

Matching Up

Rita BeriThe boys won't be the only ones in uniform this time. When the Indian cricket team goes to Dhaka this month, Ravi Shastri, Sunil Gavaskar, Geoff Boycott and the rest of the commentators will be wearing Ritu Beri's clothes. Well ... actually ... "navy blue blazers, basic trousers, shirts in neutral colours and ties with the WorldTel logo", all designed by Beri. "Since guys like Gavaskar and Shastri are very conservative dressers," she explains, "we had to give them a trendy look without being too funky." I mean, who'd take Sunny in pink ruffles seriously?

Monica's Own

What's the most famous address after the White House, USA? How about 46, Raymond Plaza, Sydney? Its occupant, Charudatta Bhadkamkar, 36, a Sydney-based Maharashtrian tool maker, recently found the press dogging his steps. What did he do? Nothing. Turned out his rented flat belongs to the most famous intern in history, Ms Lewinsky. Says a bemused Bhadkamkar, who got the house through a trust that manages Lewinsky's affairs in Australia: "My wife couldn't believe the house belongs to Lewinsky." And you, sir? "I think Bill's doing a good job." You think his landlady will agree?
