Bridal wear is the dress code this season

There's lots in store for shoppers in the coming month. The Central Cottage Industries Corporation of India in Delhi has a bridal theme happening. On display will be a range of handwoven saris from the weaving belts in India. Also check out the range of hand-made jewels. The three-day Bridal Asia 2002, an annual bridal fair, begins from October 12 at Delhi's Taj Palace. The event will cover apparel, silver, accessories, lingerie, bed linen and jewellery. Check out the Tarun Tahiliani, Krishna Mehta, Ritu Kumar, Anju Modi, Niki Mahajan and J.J. Valaya stalls. Valaya, incidentally, has completed 10 years in the fashion industry. To honour a decade of style, he presented his Fall-Winter 2002-2003 collection at the Le Meridien in Delhi recently. The invite came with a Swarovski crystal-Valaya is its brand ambassador. There was a lot of it on the ramp too. Other designers already out with their winter collections are Adarsh Gill and Ravi Bajaj, whose Fall-Winter Show was held at Taj hotel in Mumbai last week. The new winter lines will be available at most designer stores.

Life and Style: 1, M.G. Road, Delhi, is proving to be a major fashion destination for well-heeled cityites. Check out "MoonRiver", the newest entrant on the block. Adaptive Wear: Design innovations, when practical, are more appealing. Project Solace, a Delhi-based philanthropic society, has come out with a line of "adaptive, assistive apparel" for spastics and the physically challenged. Through technological innovations, the clothes are designed to suit body requirements. Call Kamal Saxena at (011) 4961655/56.

Decor Show: The just-concluded Society Interiors' Expo 2002 in Delhi threw up new interior ideas. More design shows are in the offing. Watch this space.

"The bridal colour this season is surely 'pheroza' (greenish turquoise). Copper will be the emerging glitter point in em-broidery. Silver and coloured gems are in."

Divya Gurwara, Founder, Bridal Asia 2002
