EYECATCHERS

Family Fight

What's with the Khans and their tendency for being brawl-magnets? Salman Khan is, of course, an old pro with muscle-flexing. But only a few years after Saif Ali Khan had a bottle smashed on his head at Fireball in suburban Delhi, it is now the new Khan on the block, Zayed Khan, who suffered injuries when a bottle of bubbly was broken on his head at a pub in Mumbai. There is talk of Zayed coming to the rescue of friend Esha Deol, who was celebrating her Best Debut win at the Filmfare awards with buddies, when a bunch of NRIs turned rowdy. Birds, brawls and in some cases black bucks: Khan you ask for more?

Cheer Leader

Confused about muscle-man Sunil Shetty suddenly appearing on your TV as ESPN commentator? Not only did the actor wrap up his work on LOC so he could contribute to the World Cup, but he isn't getting a penny for being on the show. And while there, he has been playing cheerleader too-"He was in the stands leading the Bharat Army," an impressed observer from South Africa says. Shetty isn't the only star card up ESPN's sleeve: Nana Patekar is next.

Maiden Entry

Remember Devyani? The Rana who went underground after the royal massacre in Nepal is getting on with life after the nightmare. She was spotted at a post-polo do in the Delhi home of her aunt Yashodhara Scindia. Shutterbugs were strictly barred, which perhaps explains why Devyani ventured out. The ex-Welhamite would have gone almost unnoticed, but for the exquisite emerald jewellery that drew attention. Here's a nugget from the party: Devyani now works for the UN in Geneva.

Absolutly Right

Bollywood might have chosen Bipasha Basu's sizzling act over Richa Pallod's naivete in Kuch Tum Kaho Kuch Hum Kahien, but alcohol changes perspective, a bit. Absolut Vodka turned the tables and, for its special six-minute advert to be premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, chose model-turned-actress Pallod over a hundred other models, including the hot-by-common-consensus Bipasha Basu. What won them over? "My twinkle toes," says the actress, who had to perform 30 takes of a one-minute classical dance under the hot sun in Jaipur.
