Runway Pride

She is hot off the India Fashion Week (IFW) runway. And still sizzling. Sohini Jaitley, 21, is the rising star according to industry consensus. The Elite model with porcelain pretty looks, who made her debut on the IFW catwalk this year, did 16 shows. Calls haven't stopped since. "I know I got noticed because a lot more people suddenly want to work with me," says the Mumbai girl. A year old in modelling, she already has ad campaigns with Cinthol, Pantaloon and Sony Ericsson behind her. Says choreographer Aparna Behl: "She is a good blend of commercial model and ramp, making her chances of stardom greater. She will do very well." Track this runway scorcher.

Hello Stranger

Mallika Sherawat wants an on-screen slow-motion sprint with the Big B, but Jogger's Park actor Perizaad Zorabian may also be in the, er, running. In Ek Ajnabee, Zorabian is the mother of a child protected by Amitabh Bachchan, an ex-policeman-turned-bodyguard. Says Zorabian: "I can't wait to get started." What say, Sherawat?

Leaving a Mark

For Ekta Kapoor, it is a script nightmares are made of. She is sparring with not one but two stars of her own making. Rajeev Khandelwal (right), Kahiin to Hoga's Sujal, walked out citing illogical changes in the script. Now, Ronit Roy, Mr Bajaj of Kasautii Zindagi Kay and Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi's Mihir , has also quit both serials after Zee TV pitted its new daily show Sarrkkar, starring Roy, against Kasautii on Star. "I am quitting over an ethical issue," says Roy. With a work environment like that, no wonder Balaji soaps are action-packed.

WINNING MOVE

This race to the finish didn't start with a gunshot but the sound of wedding bells. India's ace middle-distance runner and Olympic finalist K.M. Beenamol wed Dr Vivek George, medical officer at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai. The guest list, which included former Olympian Shiny Wilson Cherian and hockey star V. Bhaskaran, could have created a track record of its own for star attendance. On your marks, get set, go ... to a happy ever after.
