Gem Of A Model

She played muse to hundreds when she was the Bollywood Hawa Hawaii. Years after retiring from the limelight Sridevi is back-this time playing muse to sister-in-law Maheep Kapoor's latest jewellery collection. The superstar of yesteryear makes a fresh-faced comeback with a modelling campaign for Notandas & Sons. And the designer is all praise for her. "Sri is the epitome of feminity and sensuality portrayed by the quintessential Indian woman." She wasn't Mrs India for nothing.

Silver Sheen

Roshan Abbas might be radio and TV's most recognised baritone but this time it is his pretty wife Shaheen who is making quite a noise-and dazzle. Her innovative silver jewellery label Flower Child has names like Mandira Bedi, Mini Mathur and Maria Goretti listed as loyal clients. Shaheen says all the travelling with her husband set her creative juices flowing. Together the couple has given "quicksilver" a new meaning.

Breed Apart

Her family name is synonymous with breeding and racing horses but Delna Poonawalla has given up the stud farm in favour of the fashion studio. Two years after launching her signature label, Poonawalla presented a zany collection of western wear and saris at a Mumbai restaurant. Trained at the American Intercontinental University, having worked with Manish Malhotra and designed an accessories line for Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla, here's a designer who's truly a breed apart.

Tuned In

At 21, Sneha Khanwalker has a degree in animation and has trained as an art director but she is winning accolades for composing the background score and title track for Ruchi Narain's Kal-Yesterday and Tomorrow. Now the young composer is rumoured to be in negotiations with Ram Gopal Varma for the soundtrack of his next film but she is not giving away any secrets yet. "I'm just trying to carve a niche for myself," she says. Aptly put, we say.
