The latest import to Mumbai's glam whirl is the dark-haired Sigga from Iceland. Pursuing a degree in tourism and Spanish, she is here on "an extended vacation". Having modelled for swimsuit calendars, she has also appeared in ads for Bajaj Pulsar, Indica, Ponds and Sagar Couture, and acted in a music video for Sandeep Chowta. "I started modelling while in school, but with only 3,00,000 people in the entire country, there isn't much work there," jokes Sigga. Here's some more international competition for our local lovelies.

COMMON CAUSE

Indian stars will be shining bright next month in Australia, at the closing of the Commonwealth Games, with Aishwarya Rai, Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukherji, Isha Sharvani, Sunidhi Chauhan, Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal slated to perform live on March 26. Chauhan will be the only singer performing solo on March 25. The singers will croon the theme song Dilli Chalein, composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. "Since the next Commonwealth Games will be held in Delhi, we decided to call it that," says Shankar Mahadevan.

Roman Holiday

She mesmerised audiences in Mira Nair's Kama Sutra. Now Indira Varma will hit TV screens in Rome, an HBO mini-series, where she plays a poor girl betraying her husband. The half-Indian beauty knew little about Roman history till filming began and though TV is not a long-term plan, Varma says she is happy to be a part of a big production. Who wouldn't be, sweetheart?

Musical Makeover

Singer Sunali Rathod-who used to be known as Sonali-has ditched her saris for chic kurtis and long tresses for a stylish hairdo. She is seen seductively crooning in the video for her latest album This Is Me, an amalgamation of sounds. "The makeover is because of the musical shift. It is the first time that I have sung anything apart from ghazals," says Rathod who intends to reinvent herself with every album. "Madonna and J-Lo are my inspiration," she says. The next Material Girl?
