FOOD ACT

After launching masalas and pickles under the name Mohanlal's Tastebuds, Malayalam megastar Mohanlal is penning a book called My Culinary Journey. "Kerala has a rich and varied culinary geography where each region, religion and caste has its own special dish. My book will pan this pluralist tradition," says Mohanlal, who will also launch a chain of restaurants. The first outlet, Travancore Court, will soon open in Kochi. Here's to some more tantalisation of the tastebuds.

Mirth Mania

She regaled TV audiences with her role in Hum Paanch. Now Rakhi Tandon will reprise her comic act with Johnny Ala Re. The actor, who has replaced Swetta Keswani, will co-host the laugh fest with comedian Johnny Lever. "I wanted to work with a genius like him," she says, adding that the show "involves a lot of give and take and improvisations". Carry on, Sweety.

Swim and Dance

She's done it all-modelling, commercials and music videos. So it's only natural that Bollywood should be this hottie's next pit stop. Pooja Missra recently made her debut with a song-and-dance number in Rohit Kaushik's Mera Dil Leke Dekkho. The swimming champ played an "attractive and blase girl" in the song Mohabbat kya hai. "She is a disciplined actor and she listens to suggestions," says Kaushik, who vouches for her star power.

WELL BEGUN

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt called it "an unconventional debut in unconventional times", but it seems to have paid off for Shaad Randhawa. His role in Mohit Suri's Woh Lamhe has been highly appreciated and Shaad is happy to be recognised for his talent rather than his pedigree. Yesteryear star Mumtaz's nephew and wrestler Randhawa's son, the actor says he prefers to go with his gut feeling and is looking forward to more "performance-oriented roles". Bhatt naturally, we say.
