FEMININE TOUCH

She won rave reviews for her title track in Zinda and now Shibani Kashyap will don the hat of a Bollywood composer. The pop singer will turn music director for Sanjay Gupta's Dus Kahaniyan and the Irrfan Khan starrer Dubai Return for which she will both compose and sing. "In the West, it is natural for musicians to write, compose and sing their own songs. Bollywood has some wonderful singers but women composers should also come to the forefront," she says. Here's to some more feminine appeal.
Sour Grapes

Aamir Khan's Rang De Basanti might have missed out on a BAFTA award, but he didn't miss a chance to dismiss such film awards. "Film awards shouldn't be taken too seriously. I don't agree with the concept of judging one film over the other," Khan said on the red carpet at the Royal Opera House, London. But it surely doesn't hurt to dress up in Shahab Durazi and hobnob with Hollywood's hallowed. Alas, no such luck for Bollywood's award soirees.
A Mighty Prize

This former model has acted in some imminently forgettable films, so we won't be surprised if you can't recall Arti Gupta. But in her present-day avatar as Aarti Surendranath, the lady has not only been line producer of the Angelina Jolie starrer A Mighty Heart, she is all set to make a comeback with "a small yet significant role" in Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om. A cameo with Shah Rukh Khan is definitely a peace prize worth keeping, eh?
FEVER PITCH

Just 22 and already his music is top of the charts. Mithoon, the music director of Anwar and Bas Ek Pal, is on a high. His Maula Mere Maula Mere is a rage on all the fm stations thanks to its unique musical arrangement. And now he has just completed the score for a Malaysian movie, Diva. "I don't compose consciously. For me, music is an expression of personal emotion and mind," says Mithoon, whose father Naresh Sharma has composed background music for films too. Play on, we say.
