She will forever be remembered as Mani Ratnam’s Roja. Now actor Madhoo will be back with Kallol Sen’s Kabhi Socha Bhi Na Tha, a film about urbane sexual issues. But she will be missing in action around the movie’s release. The actor reportedly sent a legal notice to Sen following his earlier decision to re-christen the movie ‘Love Sex Etc’. “We retained the original title to avoid controversy,” clarifies Sen, claiming Madhoo is just holidaying in London. Conspicuous by her absence?
Greener Pastures Actor Kirron Kher is creating a stir these days, and not just in India. Signed up for a Pakistani television series Kaisa Ye Junoon, Kher plays a writer of children’s fiction, “a traditional yet modern woman who has brought up her young daughters liberally”, says Kher. The show will be shot in Pakistan and London. Kher was signed on after her impressive performance in Khamosh Pani. Quite an un-khamosh approbation, this.
MODEL MADE
She’s sizzled on the catwalk and made a foray into Bollywood. And now Dipannita Sharma, 30, has launched a modelling academy called Supermodels Reloaded. “There is a dearth of good models and I plan to change that,” says Sharma, whose short film Kindle is headed to Stuttgart, Germany. A model act, indeed.
ROCK SOLID
After opening for international metal band Iron Maiden in Bangalore, Delhi band Parikrama will now play at Donington Park at the Download Festival, alongside heavyweights like Megadeth and Dream Theater. “The invitation came as a result of our Bangalore act,” says rocker Subir Malik. They will play at nine venues around England, including the meccas of rock, Rio and Underground Camden. With Iron Maiden’s manager Rod Smallwood backing them, Parikrama’s ready to rock and roll.
