Q & A: FEROZE GUJRAL
Destiny’s Child

She has finally given in to Bollywood’s lure and agreed to do an ‘item number’. Here the model and muse talks about her performance in the song Sambhalo for Prakash Jha Productions’ Dil, Dosti, Etc:

Q. Why did you take up the offer?

A. Director Manish Jha impressed me with his belief and clear vision.

Q. What did you enjoy most?

A. I had fun dressing up in a Malini Ramani outfit and doing the typical Bollywood jhatkas. And my co-stars Shreyas Talpade and Imaad Shah were great to work with.

Q. What next? A lead role?

A. I’m destiny’s child. If the timing and the role are right, why not?

TWICE AS NICE

Here’s a fashion designer who has sown up a double deal. Couturier Pria Kataria Puri, 36, has been invited to show her fall-winter line at Alta Roma International Fashion Week in Rome in July, and the Med Moda International Fashion Week in Sicily in October. Puri will showcase extensions of her fall collection ‘Turkish Delight’. “It’s my first time at a European fashion week,” says Puri. There’s nothing like too much of a good thing, eh?

A Family Affair

Living up to the Andhra tradition of menarikam—marrying a maternal cousin —are the grand-children of movie icon N.T. Rama Rao. Brahmani, the elder daughter of his son Balakrishna, will marry Lokesh, the son of his daughter Bhuvaneswari and former Andhra chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, in August. While the bride has completed her third year of engineering, the boy is pursuing his MBA at Stanford. “Only the family will be invited, less than 200 people,” says Naidu. No surprise considering NTR has seven sons and four daughters.

CENTRESTAGE

She played Aishwarya Rai’s eloping cousin in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Stage and film actor Sheeba Chadha is back after a brief hiatus. Last seen as Desdemona in Roysten Abel’s In Othello, the 34-year-old will be seen in Rajat Kapoor’s C for Clown, to be staged at Prithvi Theatre. She has also been busy co-writing the script for a new film and with Balaji’s soap Kasturi, she makes a comeback on tv as well, this time as the evil tycoon with the silver streak of hair. Here’s looking forward to more surprises.
