CINEMA
Lido Theatre
(Bangalore)
It is perhaps no coincidence that India's first cinema theatre to let you book tickets on
the Internet should be from India's Silicon Valley. Log in to their website (www.lidotheatre.com), simply fill in the details and
pick up the tickets at the theatre.
ART
Delhi Silpi Chakra -The Early Years
(National Gallery of Modern Art, Delhi; December 4 to January 11)
The show throws up plenty of surprises: like B.C. Sanyal's portrait-sculptures,
Devayani Krishna's explorative prints and P.N. Mago's paintings. This Delhi-based group
working in the '50s and '60s -- with Sanyal, Krishna, Mago and a few others at the core --
may have been uneven but they obviously shared concerns. Well-mounted.
FOOD
Food Talk
(Monthly Magazine; Invitation Price Rs 20 per issue)
If food is less a bodily need and more a spiritual experience, then this magazine is for
you. Edited by ex-Femina editor, Vimla Patil, it offers insights into cuisines, chefs and
cutlery. Brimming with mouth-watering pictures and exotic recipes, it's an absolute treat.
"It's like being invited to a huge banquet," as one reader commented.
